Africa - Child Soldiers - are child soldiers always forced to become child soldiers?
Studying:
In studying child soldiers. Child soldiers are Sudanese boys, ages 12 and up. Child soldiers will fight with commandos, and AK47s. This is because these two guns are easy for kids to handle, arm and disarm.
In South Sudan child soldiers were known to man kind in the 1900s, but not this much child soldiers were no publicly in the 21st century. This is happening in South Sudan and other small countries in Africa. This is going on because rebels and the government in Africa, don't have enough soldiers to fight in the civil war. Also, the government and rebels see the kids as dummy's, and use them to cross mind fields, and stuff like that.

M: Child soldiers are forced to become child soldiers
E/A: According to UNICEF, when investigating child soldiers,"Thus outlawed and brutalized, and often fed crack or other drugs, the children have been led to neighboring villages to repeat the exercise." This shows that these children are forced because kids are given drugs in order to do bad things.
E/A: In an investigation of child soldiers, an article by Lizzie Dearden tells, "A formal UN monitoring report is being prepared but investigators are being hampered by the heavy militia presence in the area making it impossible to receive first-hand information." This is showing kids are forced to become child soldiers, because South Sudan doesn't want anybody seeing what they're doing to the kids.
E/A: In an investigation of child soldiers recruitment, it was shown, "One boy recalled how they "were forced to train, and if we didn't want to do it, we were beaten heavily"" (Burridge). This shows why kids are forced because a boy who was taken that escaped, says that they were forced to be trained to fight, and if they didn't want to they were brutally beaten.
E/A: Research of child soldiers recruitment has shown, "The UN Children's Fund reports the warring parties in South Sudan have recruited more than 12,000 child soldiers. UNICEF said boys in many areas of conflict are being rounded up and sent to the front line to fight" (Schlein). This research is showing child solders are forced because 12,000 kids wouldn't volunteer to fight as front line fighters, especially after hard training.
E/A: Evidence has shown that the government is slow to stop child soldiers, "More than two weeks after the children were taken, it might be too late to bring back the boys before they are sent to fight" (Patinkin). This evidence explains that child soldiers are forced because the UN is trying to get the boys who were TAKEN to safety, but it might not be possible because they would've already been sent to fight.
E/A: In investigation of child soldiers, "A UNICEF's representative said, "We fear they are going from the classroom to the front line"" (Patinkin). This evidence shows child soldiers are forced because right after the kids get done training, they are immediately sent to fight. No kid would ever want to go fight in a war, after training hard.
L: Child soldiers are forced to become child soldiers because the government doesn't have enough men to fight the rebels, and the government uses the kids as a safety dummy.
